The 30th edition of Gulfood kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on Monday and will run until February 21, showcasing innovative and exciting food trends. Among the notable creations on display are unexpected products like spinach ice lollies and coffee-flavored cheese, as well as a host of other culinary innovations.

Here are five of the coolest food trends to check out at this year's event:

  1. Coffee-Flavored Cheese
A Dutch company is introducing coffee-flavored cheese at Gulfood 2025, adding a caramelized finish to this popular product. It's especially popular in the Arab region, with significant demand observed around Ramadan in Saudi Arabia. The company hopes to find partners in the UAE market to launch the product locally.

  2. Date Mustard
Zamat, a Hungarian brand, is unveiling its date mustard, a fermented sauce that combines the sweetness of dates with a tangy fermentation twist. The product offers a different approach to fermented food and has a reduced sweetness level due to a special lactofermentation process, making it an ideal accompaniment for various dishes.

  3. Savory Ice Lollies
House of Pops, a local brand, is offering ice lollies made from savory ingredients like beetroot, spinach, and kale. A highlight this year is their edible flower ice lolly, which has been nominated for the best health and wellness product category. The visually appealing lollies are a hit among customers and represent the brand's ongoing innovation in the food space.

  4. Quinoa Jams
Peruvian brand Kiria is debuting a quinoa-based jam that's preservative-free, sugar-free, and made with 95% natural ingredients. The jam is a healthy alternative for those with dietary restrictions, including people with diabetes. The company took three years to perfect the recipe, and quinoa, a staple in Peruvian diets, adds nutritional value to this unique product.

  5. Beetroot Bites
Super Garden, known for its innovative food offerings, is presenting beetroot bites—small freeze-dried cubes packed with the nutrition of an entire beetroot. The product has caught the attention of the European Space Agency as a potential astronaut food, and the company is in talks to distribute it in the UAE.

Gulfood 2025 is a major event for the food industry, attracting over 500 exhibitors from 129 countries and highlighting the future of food innovation.
