Air India and flydubai have entered a new interline partnership that will give passengers more ways to travel between the UAE, India and destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The agreement links the two airlines’ networks through Dubai, Delhi and Mumbai, allowing travellers to combine flights from both carriers under a single itinerary. For UAE-based Indian travellers, the deal could make journeys to smaller Indian cities and onward international destinations easier to arrange.
52 More Destinations Through Dubai
Under the partnership, Air India customers will gain access to 52 additional points on flydubai’s network through Dubai.
The destinations include 23 in Europe, 21 in the Middle East, six in Africa and two in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This gives Air India passengers more onward options from Dubai without requiring Air India to operate flights to each of those destinations itself.
For travellers starting in India and heading to Europe or other Middle Eastern markets, Dubai can now serve as an additional connecting point within a combined itinerary.
flydubai Passengers Gain Access to 69 Air India Destinations
The arrangement also works in the opposite direction.
flydubai customers will be able to connect to 69 destinations across Air India’s network via Delhi and Mumbai. These connections cover India as well as markets in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
For passengers travelling from the UAE to India, this could be particularly useful for reaching cities beyond the major international gateways. Air India’s network includes destinations such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Goa, Jaipur, Pune and Varanasi.
Single-Ticket Travel and Through-Checked Baggage
One of the key advantages of the agreement is that connecting journeys can be booked on a single ticket, with through-checked baggage available across the participating flights.
That could reduce some of the complications passengers face when combining separate tickets, particularly when travelling with luggage or making international connections.
The deal combines an interline agreement with a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA), allowing the airlines to coordinate fares and connections across their networks.
A Boost for UAE-Based Indian Travellers
The partnership comes at a time when travel between the UAE and India remains an important market for both business and family traffic.
For many Indian residents in the UAE, the benefit may not be a completely new direct route but the ability to build more convenient journeys using the two airlines. A passenger could connect through Dubai to reach a flydubai destination, while a traveller flying with flydubai could continue through Delhi or Mumbai onto Air India’s wider network.
The airlines have not announced that the partnership itself adds new direct routes or increases flight frequencies. Instead, it combines existing networks to create more connection options.
Dubai Strengthens Its Role as a Global Hub
The agreement also supports Dubai’s position as a major connecting hub between India, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
flydubai said the new partnership is part of its wider network expansion strategy. With the addition of Air India and Uzbekistan Airways, flydubai now has 46 interline partner airlines and access to a combined network of more than 300 destinations worldwide.
For Air India, the partnership adds another way to extend its global reach while giving passengers more alternatives for connecting beyond its own network.
More Choices for Travellers
The Air India-flydubai agreement is ultimately about network connectivity rather than a single new flight route. By linking Dubai with Air India’s gateways in Delhi and Mumbai, the two airlines are giving passengers more ways to combine journeys across their respective networks.
For UAE-based Indian travellers, that could mean easier access to more Indian cities, while passengers travelling beyond India gain additional connections across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.
