Sharjah International Airport is planning to combine its home check-in service with its premium Al Diyafah hospitality offering, aiming to provide passengers with a smoother travel experience from their homes to their aircraft.
Announced on October 28, 2026, the proposed integration would allow travellers to complete check-in formalities, receive boarding passes and have their luggage collected before arriving at the airport. The initiative is intended to reduce waiting times and simplify airport procedures for passengers seeking greater convenience.
Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Hamoudi, Director of Customer Services at Sharjah Airport Authority, said the plan forms part of the airport’s efforts to introduce flexible services tailored to passengers’ needs.
Home Check-In to Simplify Travel
Sharjah Airport launched its Home Check-In service in November 2025. The service allows passengers to complete check-in procedures at home, work or a hotel, where airport staff issue boarding passes and collect luggage.
The service currently operates within Sharjah city, with packages starting at AED 145 for one or two bags. Passengers can also choose higher-priced packages depending on the number of bags they need to check in.
Under the proposed integration, travellers could combine this service with premium airport assistance, reducing the number of procedures they need to complete after reaching the terminal.
Al Diyafah Offers Premium Passenger Services
The airport’s Al Diyafah service provides personalised assistance for arriving and departing passengers. Benefits include dedicated reception, baggage handling and expedited check-in, passport control and security screening.
Eligible passengers can also access a luxury hospitality lounge and, where aircraft are not connected to an aerobridge, private vehicle transfers directly to the aircraft. The service additionally offers duty-free shopping delivery within 30 minutes, alongside exclusive offers and discounts.
Combining these facilities with home check-in would extend the premium travel experience beyond the airport terminal.
Focus on Passenger Convenience and Efficiency
Sharjah Airport is also expanding its use of smart facilities, including self-service boarding pass issuance, baggage drop-off, immigration smart gates and self-boarding systems.
The planned integration reflects the airport’s broader strategy to improve operational efficiency as passenger demand grows. By shifting some travel formalities to passengers’ homes and offering faster airport processing, the authority aims to make journeys more convenient for families, business travellers and premium-service customers.
The integrated service is still at the planning stage, and details about its launch date and pricing have not yet been announced. Once implemented, it could provide travellers with a more connected journey from home to departure gate while strengthening Sharjah Airport’s range of passenger services.
