Petrol prices in the United Arab Emirates could rise further in November as international oil prices climb above $110 per barrel amid renewed concerns over Middle East supply disruptions. With October fuel rates already above Dh4 per litre for all three petrol grades, motorists are waiting for the UAE Fuel Price Committee’s next announcement, expected at the end of October. The final rates will depend on global oil-market conditions and pricing trends during the remainder of the month.
October Fuel Prices Remain Above Dh4
The UAE increased petrol and diesel prices for October 2026, with petrol rates rising by around 16% compared with September. Current prices are:
- Super 98: Dh4.40 per litre
- Special 95: Dh4.28 per litre
- E-Plus 91: Dh4.21 per litre
- Diesel: Dh4.80 per litre
The increases followed several months of volatility in international energy markets. Petrol prices had remained below Dh4 per litre earlier in the year before renewed supply concerns pushed rates higher.
Oil Prices Above $110 Increase Pressure
Brent crude rose above $110 per barrel on October 21, supported by concerns about Middle East oil supplies and declining US inventories. West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark, also advanced towards $100 per barrel.
Shipping disruptions and higher tanker freight costs have added to the pressure on international energy markets. Concerns about the security of major oil transportation routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, have contributed to market uncertainty.
If crude prices and transportation costs remain elevated through the end of October, the UAE could face further upward pressure when November fuel rates are calculated.
Could Petrol Prices Rise Again?
The possibility of another increase has strengthened, but the final November prices have not yet been announced. The UAE reviews fuel prices monthly, taking international market conditions into account.
A sustained rise in crude prices could contribute to higher retail fuel costs, while easing geopolitical tensions, improving oil supplies or a decline in global benchmarks could limit the increase.
Motorists should therefore avoid treating current oil prices as a direct prediction of November pump rates. The monthly adjustment depends on broader pricing trends rather than a single day's crude price.
What Higher Fuel Costs Mean for Motorists
Another increase would add to fuel expenses for commuters, families and businesses that rely on road transport. Even a small rise per litre can increase monthly spending for drivers who refuel frequently or operate larger vehicles.
For example, a 10-fils-per-litre increase would add Dh6 to a 60-litre fill-up. Drivers covering long distances could face a more noticeable increase in their monthly budgets.
The UAE's official November fuel prices are expected at the end of October, with the new rates taking effect on November 1. Until then, October prices remain in force.
For now, petrol staying above Dh4 per litre appears plausible given elevated oil prices, but whether rates rise further will depend on how international markets develop over the remaining days of October.
