Early life, education, and career journey
Tell us about your early life, education, and career journey.
I grew up in Romania, where I first discovered my passion for hospitality. After completing my studies in business and management, I entered the hotel industry at an early age. Over the years, I worked my way through different roles across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, learning the business from the ground up. Each step taught me something new, whether it was operations, people management, or financial strategy, and shaped me into the leader I am today.
Current role and what you enjoy most

What is your current role, and what do you enjoy most about your work?
I’m currently the General Manager of Pyramisa Hotel Apartments Dubai. When I took over, the hotel was still in its early stages, with only 150 rooms open and facilities under development. Today, we’ve turned it into a competitive property in one of the world’s most demanding markets. What I love most about the job is the mix of challenges, every day is different, and every challenge is an opportunity to grow the hotel, the team, and myself.
Proudest professional accomplishment
What has been your proudest professional accomplishment?
Transforming Pyramisa Dubai in under a year is something I’m very proud of. We started almost from scratch and quickly built a strong reputation, improved guest satisfaction, and boosted our financial performance. Achieving that in Dubai, where competition is fierce, was a huge milestone for me and for the team.
Overcoming Fragile Starts
What is one major challenge you’ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?
The toughest moments have always been when I stepped into hotels at their most fragile stage, post-opening or in need of a turnaround. At Pyramisa, for example, we had little visibility and unfinished facilities. We overcame this by focusing on three things: diagnosing the real issues, setting a clear strategy, and motivating the team. Consistency and communication were key, we stayed focused and kept pushing forward until the numbers and the reputation turned around.
Staying ahead in the industry

How do you stay ahead in your industry?
Hospitality never stands still, especially in Dubai. We stay ahead by keeping a close eye on KPIs, following industry trends, and adopting new technologies that enhance the guest journey and experience. We also invest heavily in people, because at the end of the day, technology supports the experience, but it’s people who deliver it.
Advice for young professionals
What advice would you give to young professionals aiming for success?
Be consistent, be curious, and don’t shy away from tough assignments. Every role teaches you something valuable. Care for your team, because when your people feel valued, your guests will too. And always strive for excellence, not perfection. Excellence is about discipline, passion, and doing the small things right, every single day.
And not to forget my two life quotes:
“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.”
“It always seems impossible until it's done.”
