In a moment that tugged at the hearts of millions, Virat Kohli has officially stepped down from Test cricket, closing the chapter on a glorious saga that inspired a generation. Known not just for his fierce batting but his unmatched intensity on the field, Kohli shared the news via an emotional Instagram post on Monday.

“As I step away from this format, it's not easy—but it feels right,” the cricket superstar wrote. “I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me more than I ever dreamed.”

A Career That Made History

From his debut in 2011 to leading India to its first-ever Test series win in Australia, Kohli carved a legacy of passion, discipline, and unmatched performance:

  • 123 Tests, 9,230 runs

  • 30 centuries, including a memorable 254*

  • A leader in 68 Tests, winning 40 of them

End of an Era

With Rohit Sharma also retiring from Test cricket earlier this year, fans are witnessing the sunset of a golden age in Indian cricket. Kohli’s decision, though anticipated, left fans nostalgic and emotional.

While he’s hung up his Test boots, Kohli isn’t done yet. He is expected to continue donning India’s blue jersey in ODIs, aiming for the 2027 World Cup.
