The UAE has introduced a new online service that allows residents to invite friends and relatives to the country for stays of up to 90 days. This initiative aims to make family reunification easier and enhance the quality of life for UAE residents. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICA) has rolled out the "Friend or Relative Visa" via its website and mobile application. This service offers flexible options, enabling either single or multiple entries, with visa durations ranging from 30 to 90 days. The visa is valid for up to 60 days from the date of issuance, and residents can apply for extensions during the stay.

Easy and Convenient Application Process

Residents can apply for the visa by logging in to the ICA’s website or using the mobile application. After selecting the desired visa type and duration, applicants must verify their details before submitting the application. The application process is straightforward, ensuring that the system is easy to navigate for all users.

To qualify for the visa, applicants must meet certain requirements. These include having a passport valid for more than six months, a confirmed travel ticket, valid health insurance, and a relationship with the UAE resident—either as a friend or relative (first or second degree). Additionally, the UAE resident must hold a first or second-level job as per the authority’s classification.

Aimed at Facilitating Family Reunification

Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, the Director-General of ICA, emphasized that this service is designed to promote family unity and contribute to the well-being of individuals living in the UAE. By enabling residents to invite their loved ones to the UAE, the government aims to strengthen family bonds and improve the overall living experience for the country’s expatriate population.

The introduction of this visa service also aligns with the UAE’s strategy to enhance its appeal as a global hub for living and investing. With its progressive visa policies and commitment to creating a welcoming environment, the UAE continues to set a standard for family reunification services.

Important Notes and Penalties

While this new service offers flexibility and convenience, the ICA has also warned about the importance of adhering to the specified visa duration. Violations such as overstaying or failing to leave the country on time could lead to administrative penalties. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to follow the rules and ensure they respect the terms of their visa to avoid any complications.

The UAE has long been known for its commitment to creating an inclusive environment, and this new initiative reflects its continued efforts to make it easier for residents to maintain family ties while contributing to the country's social and economic fabric.

This new visa service is part of the UAE's ongoing initiatives to improve the lives of its residents, offering opportunities for family reunification and enhancing the living experience in one of the most dynamic and fast-growing nations in the world.
