UAE Hits Record Emiratisation Rate with 131,000 Citizens in Private Sector

The UAE achieved a record 131,000 Emiratis employed in the private sector in 2024, marking a 350% increase, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, during the first Cabinet meeting of 2025. This milestone was credited to the success of initiatives like the Nafis programme and strict enforcement of Emiratisation policies.

Key Achievements in 2024

Economic Growth:

  • Foreign trade exceeded Dh2.8 trillion, a record high.
  • Foreign direct investments reached Dh130 billion, and industrial exports were valued at Dh190 billion.
  • Over 200,000 new companies were registered, reflecting a strong business environment.
  • Emirati youth established 25,000 small and medium-sized businesses.

Legislative Reforms:

  • The government completed an update of 80% of its economic, social, and regulatory legislations, enhancing the growth environment.
  • This three-year project involved 2,500 officials, modernizing policies since the Union's founding.

Tourism Milestones:

  • Over 30 million tourists visited UAE facilities in 2024.
  • 150 million passengers passed through the nation’s airports, underscoring its global connectivity.

National Development:

  • More than 750 national projects were launched to attract talent, investments, and innovations.
  • 1,300 Cabinet decisions were issued to establish a regulatory framework for sustained growth over the next 20 years.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s long-term strategies aimed at ensuring economic resilience and growth, reinforcing its global leadership in various sectors.
