The Dubai government has introduced the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme, an initiative designed to strengthen Emirati families and promote work-life balance. Announced on Saturday, the programme’s first phase includes several benefits aimed at enhancing family stability and quality of life.

Key Features of the Programme

  • 10-Day Paid Marriage Leave: Spouses working in Dubai government offices are entitled to a 10-day paid leave upon marriage, fostering early family bonding.
  • Remote Work for New Mothers: Mothers employed in government roles can work remotely on Fridays during their first year after maternity leave, supporting their transition back to work.
  • Reduced Housing Loan Premiums: Beneficiaries of the Dubai Weddings programme can now avail of reduced monthly housing loan payments, starting from just Dh3,333, provided their income does not exceed Dh30,000.
  • Prioritised Housing Support: Collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment ensures ready-made housing allocation for eligible couples.

The Dubai Weddings Programme

Launched in 2024, the Dubai Weddings programme has been a cornerstone of family support, covering main wedding ceremony costs and offering free wedding halls and neighbourhood Majlises. In its first year, it facilitated 344 weddings, accounting for over 28% of Emirati weddings in Dubai, and contributed to a 10.1% rise in Emirati weddings compared to 2023.

Vision for Emirati Families

The initiative, led by Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, reflects a deep commitment to empowering Emirati families. “Strong families are essential to create a better future,” Sheikha Hind stated, emphasizing the programme’s role in nurturing future generations.

How to Register

Emirati citizens planning to marry can register for the Dubai Weddings programme through the Dubai Now app or the Community Development Authority’s website. Assistance is also available via their helpline at 800 2121.

Future Plans

Upcoming phases of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme will expand support in areas such as education, healthcare, and social services, ensuring comprehensive benefits for Emirati families in Dubai.

This initiative underscores Dubai's dedication to fostering a supportive environment for Emirati families, ensuring their lasting happiness, stability, and growth.
