Abu Dhabi-based Burjeel Holdings and Response Plus Medical Services have launched a first-of-its-kind global recognition platform with a $1 million prize to honor energy companies that demonstrate exceptional commitment to employee health and wellness.

The newly announced Human Energy Award is open to all companies across the global energy industry and aims to recognize innovative and impactful initiatives focused on workforce physical and mental well-being.

According to the organizers, the award will go to the organization that delivers the most “innovative, impactful, and measurable solution” for improving health outcomes across the energy value chain. The inaugural winner will be announced in November 2025.

Global Reach with Focus on Impact

Open to companies of all sizes, the award specifically encourages entries from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that form the backbone of the energy sector’s supply chain. Organizers say that the $1 million financial incentive is expected to generate meaningful cultural and operational impact within recipient organizations.

“This initiative is designed to recognize and inspire organizations who think differently about health and well-being," said Steven Wines, CEO of Prometheus Medical International, a subsidiary of Response Plus Holding. “We want to encourage innovative solutions that make a tangible difference to people across the energy value chain.”

Judging Panel Brings Global Expertise

Submissions will be reviewed by a high-profile independent jury. Dr. Richard Heron, former Vice President of Health and Chief Medical Officer at BP, will chair the judging panel. He is joined by Vinay Menon, a wellness coach renowned for his work with elite sports teams including Chelsea FC and Belgium’s FIFA 2022 squad, and John Defterios, former CNN journalist and a noted economic analyst.

The Human Energy Award now joins a growing list of UAE-led global recognition efforts, including the $1 million Global Teacher Prize by GEMS Education and the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award, both of which have received global acclaim for championing service-driven professions.

UAE Pushes Global Wellness Agenda

With this new initiative, Burjeel and Response Plus are positioning the UAE as a thought leader in corporate wellness, particularly in high-pressure industries like energy. The award also complements ongoing national strategies to boost mental health, occupational safety, and innovation in healthcare.

Submissions are now open, and global energy firms, from oil giants to clean energy startups, are encouraged to apply. The evaluation process will emphasize measurable results, scalability, and originality in workplace wellness initiatives.
