The government of Fujairah has announced a 20 per cent salary increase for all government employees, a decision set to take effect from February 1, 2025. The directive was issued by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, reinforcing his commitment to improving job stability and enhancing the economic well-being of government employees in the emirate. The salary adjustment aligns with the Fujairah Government’s strategic vision to provide financial relief, ease living costs, and ensure a dignified standard of living for employees and their families.

Enhancing Employee Welfare and Economic Growth

This initiative underscores the leadership’s dedication to supporting the local workforce while boosting institutional efficiency and performance. By increasing salaries, the government aims to create a more motivated workforce, further strengthening the public sector’s productivity and overall service quality.

“This salary increment is a step toward fostering a stable and satisfied workforce in Fujairah. The well-being of employees directly impacts institutional success, and this initiative reflects our leadership’s vision for a prosperous and resilient future,” said a government spokesperson.

Wider Salary Trends Across the UAE

The salary increase in Fujairah comes amid growing optimism about salary adjustments across the UAE. A recent survey by Hays GCC Salary Guide 2025 indicated that 74 per cent of employees in the country anticipate salary hikes this year. In 2024, nearly 48 per cent of employees in the UAE received salary increments, primarily ranging between 2.5 and 5 per cent.

Similarly, 72 per cent of Emirati professionals expect salary increases in 2025, though a portion—approximately 28 per cent—believe their salaries will remain unchanged. Reports also suggest that professionals in high-demand sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, cybersecurity, and renewable energy are expected to receive higher salary hikes due to industry growth and demand for specialized skills.

Future Outlook

The announcement from Fujairah sets a positive precedent for other regions in the UAE, highlighting the nation’s commitment to supporting employees through economic advancements and workplace improvements. The decision is expected to drive employee satisfaction, job retention, and overall economic growth within the emirate.

As the UAE continues to strengthen its economic landscape, government-led salary adjustments signal a move towards sustainable workforce policies, ensuring both employee prosperity and institutional development.
