Abu Dhabi — Etihad Airways has launched a new seasonal route connecting Abu Dhabi to Al Alamein, Egypt’s rising Mediterranean beach destination. The twice-weekly flights operate every Thursday and Sunday, aiming to serve growing leisure travel demand from the UAE and the wider Gulf region.
Located west of Alexandria, Al Alamein is emerging as a popular coastal getaway, offering upscale resorts and a quieter alternative to Egypt’s traditional tourist hubs.
The new route is operated by Airbus A320 aircraft featuring 8 Business and 150 Economy seats. Etihad said the schedule is tailored to weekend trips and extended summer holidays.
“With this launch, Etihad adds another direct connection to Egypt, supporting the country’s tourism ambitions while offering UAE travellers more nearby holiday options,” the airline stated.
The move is part of Etihad’s broader network expansion focused on high-demand seasonal leisure destinations. It also aligns with a growing trend among Gulf carriers tapping into the Mediterranean’s popularity for short-haul summer escapes.
