Bus drivers, labourers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and low-income individuals in Dubai will receive free iftar meals at key locations as part of a Ramadan initiative launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This effort is part of a larger programme that includes 20 diverse community events and interactive charitable activities.

The initiative will be held at strategic locations, including RTA’s headquarters, metro stations, and marine transport hubs. Among the standout efforts are the ‘Iftar Saem’ initiative, launched in collaboration with Beit Al Khair Society, and the ‘Meals on Wheels’ programme, which will begin in the second week of Ramadan. The ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative aims to support bus, delivery, and truck drivers, as well as those residing in labour accommodations and abra commuters.

At metro stations, 5,000 iftar meals will be distributed, accompanied by special kiosks offering symbolic gifts to labourers. Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, emphasized the significance of these efforts, stating, “This year’s Ramadan initiatives are designed to benefit bus drivers, labourers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and low-income individuals, reflecting RTA’s core values of tolerance, collaboration, and teamwork.” He added that the initiatives align with the UAE leadership’s vision in declaring 2025 as ‘The Year of Community.’

Additionally, RTA will launch the ‘Ramadan Rations’ initiative on Zayed Humanitarian Workday, observed on the 19th of Ramadan each year in memory of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This initiative will provide essential food supplies for low-income families through the distribution of Nol cards.

On the employee front, RTA has planned 15 activities to bring joy and foster a positive atmosphere among its staff. These include group iftars for field staff and engineers, departmental iftars at Winter Camp, and support for low-income employees through Ramadan Rations vouchers and the ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative.

The initiative reinforces Dubai’s commitment to supporting its workforce and underprivileged communities during the holy month of Ramadan, ensuring that everyone can partake in the spirit of generosity and giving.
