Dubai residents can now renew their visas in just a few minutes, thanks to a new AI-powered digital platform launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

The platform, named Salama, allows users to complete the entire renewal process seamlessly. Once logged in, AI technology automatically recognizes user details, displays visa status, and highlights the remaining days before expiration. The updated document can be downloaded instantly, eliminating paperwork and reducing wait times.

Faster and More Efficient Process

Previously, visa renewals took between one to three hours, depending on document completeness. However, with Salama, the process is now reduced to just one to two minutes when all necessary documents are in order.

Applicants can simply choose the renewal duration, and the system instantly processes the request, making it significantly easier for residents to extend their permits.

Phase-Wise Expansion Planned

Currently, the platform is focused on residency visa renewals and cancellations. However, future phases will expand services to include visa applications for visitors, tourists, and companies.

“We are working on enabling businesses to use the smart channel and GDRFA DXP application for their visa renewal needs in the next phase,” said Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department at GDRFA.

A Step Towards Digital Transformation

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, General Director of GDRFA Dubai, highlighted the significance of this AI-powered transformation.

“Digital transformation is not just about developing services; it’s about redefining the customer experience. The Salama AI Platform reflects our commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology to enhance government efficiency and improve the quality of life in Dubai.”

With this latest innovation, Dubai continues to position itself as a global leader in digital governance, ensuring faster and more accessible services for its residents.
