Dubai has unveiled an advanced AI-powered security system aimed at enhancing the safety of gold and jewellery transportation, ensuring real-time tracking, regulatory compliance, and maximum protection, according to the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA).

Introducing "Tawash" – A New Era of Secure Gold Transport

The newly launched digital platform, "Tawash," allows gold and jewellery businesses to transport valuables using their own licensed employees, eliminating the reliance on third-party couriers. However, to ensure safety, all transported items must be secured in SIRA-approved security bags, which have undergone rigorous testing to meet the highest industry standards.

Jassim Taher, Director of Special Projects at SIRA, confirmed the system's operational rollout, stating that businesses were briefed on registration procedures, tracking protocols, and compliance requirements to guarantee uncompromised security.

Advanced Security Features of the "Tawash" System

SIRA has mandated that traditional security bags will no longer be accepted. Instead, all transport operations must use high-tech security bags, equipped with:

  • Smart alarm systems that trigger alerts if unauthorized access is detected.
  • Loud sirens to notify authorities in case of a breach.
  • Electronic locking mechanisms to prevent tampering.
  • Protection against forced entry attempts, including cutting or prying tools.

Only SIRA-certified security bags will be authorized, and companies can select the appropriate size and design based on their operational needs.

Real-Time Monitoring and Compliance Measures

The "Tawash" system offers a real-time dashboard for store managers, enabling them to track transport operations, report suspicious activity, and take immediate action when necessary. The platform also features a ‘Guest Invites System’, allowing companies to monitor individuals bringing gold into Dubai from abroad.

Additionally, Dubai Police will have instant oversight of transport operations, using multi-layered verification to ensure strict compliance. Unauthorized gold transport or non-compliance with security protocols will result in immediate penalties.

Enhancing Security and Market Stability

SIRA emphasized the importance of industry-wide compliance, urging all gold and jewellery businesses to adopt the new security measures. The initiative aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global gold trading hub, ensuring a safe and stable market for investors and businesses alike.

With "Tawash" now fully operational, Dubai’s gold industry is set to enter a new era of secure and transparent transport operations, backed by state-of-the-art AI technology.
