Dubai: The Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, has launched ‘Port Eye’, the region’s first AI-powered drone monitoring system to enhance safety and efficiency across the emirate’s maritime zones.
The autonomous drone network will provide real-time monitoring of port operations, environmental conditions, and infrastructure. The system uses 4K thermal cameras and advanced sensors to deliver instant data and reduce manual work in high-risk areas.
Officials said the system supports the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030 and Net Zero 2050 goals by improving energy efficiency and minimizing emissions.
Captain Ibrahim Al Blooshi, Executive Director of the DPA, said the initiative marks a major milestone in Dubai’s digital transformation.
“Port Eye reflects our commitment to building a smart, safe, and sustainable port ecosystem driven by real-time data and AI-powered insights,” he said.
The new technology has already reduced inspection times from four hours to under 50 minutes, improving decision-making and operational safety by more than 60 percent.
Port Eye’s environmental sensors can detect ship emissions, monitor marine pollution, and ensure compliance with global environmental standards. Live data is transmitted to DPA’s central command centre, allowing for rapid response and predictive maintenance.
The DPA said the system will serve as a model for intelligent port management, reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in smart maritime innovation.
