Abu Dhabi: The UAE Central Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Presight, an Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence and big data analytics company, to launch a new sovereign AI entity focused on strengthening the country’s financial infrastructure.
The newly formed company will play a central role in the development, maintenance, and support of the UAE’s most critical financial platforms, including the Jaywan domestic card scheme, Aani instant payments network, the UAE Central Bank Digital Currency infrastructure, the National Card Switch, and Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system. It will also support the country’s Open Finance framework known as Nebras.
The collaboration is being seen as a significant step in the UAE’s push to integrate artificial intelligence into its core economic and financial frameworks. According to a statement released by the partners, “This strategic partnership marks a major milestone in the UAE’s journey to strengthen resilience, and harness artificial intelligence across every facet of its financial ecosystem.”
The UAE has been actively investing in building a robust and sovereign financial infrastructure in recent years. The Jaywan card initiative, set to become the national debit card, and Aani, an instant fund transfer system for both individuals and businesses, are two of the country’s flagship projects aimed at financial independence and digital transformation.
Presight, one of the UAE’s few listed tech companies, brings strong credentials in AI development and analytics. The company’s stock, listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), is currently trading at Dh3.66, reflecting a rise of more than 75% year-to-date.
The partnership also comes at a time when the UAE is accelerating its digital currency efforts, with the Central Bank actively working on infrastructure and regulatory readiness for a sovereign digital currency. The newly formed AI entity is expected to provide advanced technical capabilities to manage the complexity and security of such high-impact initiatives.
With this move, the UAE reinforces its position as a regional leader in financial technology, aiming to create a seamless, AI-powered ecosystem that benefits consumers, businesses, and regulators alike.
