ABU DHABI — President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received on Monday Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The summit, which took place in Qasr Al Shati, Abu Dhabi, symbolized the gradual increase in UAE-Australia relations over the past decades. Sheikh Mohamed received the Australian Prime Minister and emphasized areas of cooperation such as investment, renewable energy, sustainability, and education, emphasizing their compatibility with the development goals of the two countries.
He also pointed out that the cooperation goes beyond economic and political levels, reaching cultural and educational forms of cooperation leading to a better understanding of the two peoples.
Discussions also addressed regional and international concerns of shared interest. Sheikh Mohamed praised Australia's recognition of the State of Palestine as a step towards promoting peace in the region according to the two-state solution.
Prime Minister Albanese reiterated his nation's interest in deepening relations with the UAE, hailing progress in recent years. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing CEPA, which was inked last year, and highlighted its potential in enhancing trade and economic cooperation.
The two countries further agreed on deepening development partnerships and pursuing new opportunities that yield prosperity for both the country and the nation. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the President of the UAE, top UAE officials, and Australian delegates attended the talks.
