Dubai – UAE residents are facing sharply higher summer airfares as airlines reroute flights to avoid Iranian and Israeli airspace, following heightened regional tensions.
Since June 13, ticket prices to destinations including India, Kenya, Germany, and the United States have jumped between 15% and 60%, according to online fare trackers.
One-way flights to Mumbai and Delhi are now selling for Dh750–Dh800, up from Dh400. New York fares have climbed to Dh1,300 one-way, with round trips to major US cities exceeding Dh2,475.
Flights to Nairobi rose 25%, with round trips now averaging Dh1,195. Routes to Germany and Israel are also up by 20–70%, with longer layovers or limited availability.
Airlines are absorbing increased fuel and operational costs by passing them on to passengers, as alternative routes over the Gulf, Central Asia, and northern Africa add flight time and congestion.
