Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has officially announced a ban on pilgrims bringing children to Hajj 2025. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah cited concerns over the safety and well-being of minors amid the intense crowding that occurs during the annual pilgrimage.
"This measure is taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to avoid exposing them to any harm during the pilgrimage," the ministry stated. The decision aligns with Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to enhance the overall safety and organization of Hajj, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
Enhanced Safety Measures for Pilgrims
In addition to the child restriction policy, the Saudi authorities have introduced a range of new safety measures to improve crowd control and prevent incidents during Hajj. These measures include:
-
Safety Information Campaigns: Pilgrims will receive educational materials and guidance on safe movement within the holy sites.
-
Smart Coordination Systems: Modern intelligent systems will be employed to regulate the movement of pilgrims and reduce congestion.
-
Infrastructure Enhancements: The authorities are upgrading tent camps, walking routes, and other facilities to improve overall pilgrimage conditions.
Saudi Arabia has also reiterated its policy of prioritizing first-time pilgrims for Hajj 2025. This initiative aims to ensure that as many Muslims as possible get the opportunity to fulfill their religious obligation at least once in their lifetime.
Visa Policy Changes
To further regulate the pilgrimage, Saudi authorities have modified visa policies for visitors from 14 countries, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. The country has suspended its previous one-year multiple-entry visas indefinitely and will now issue only single-entry visas for tourism, business, and family visits.
Registration for Domestic Pilgrims
For Saudi citizens and residents wishing to perform Hajj, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has opened registration via the Nusuk app. Applicants are required to:
-
Update health details.
-
Add companions if necessary.
-
Submit a Mahram (male guardian) exemption request if applicable.
Once registered, pilgrims will receive notifications regarding Hajj package bookings and further instructions.
Hajj 2025 Dates and Religious Significance
Hajj 2025 is expected to take place from June 4-6, subject to moon sighting. In Islam, performing Hajj is a mandatory religious duty for those who are physically and financially capable, and it remains one of the five pillars of Islam.
With these new regulations, Saudi Arabia aims to ensure a safer and more organized pilgrimage, allowing millions of Muslims to perform their religious duties with greater ease and security.
