Qualcomm Technologies has announced plans to establish a global engineering centre in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant expansion of the company’s international innovation footprint. The new Qualcomm Engineering Center will focus on developing advanced technologies in artificial intelligence (AI), industrial internet of things (IoT), and data center solutions.

The facility will become an integral part of Qualcomm’s global network of engineering hubs, with a mission to support high-performance connectivity, scalable computing, and sustainable technology development. The center is also expected to play a vital role in supporting the UAE’s strategic initiatives in economic diversification and tech innovation.

“We are thrilled to announce our plans to establish a Qualcomm Engineering Center in Abu Dhabi as part of our efforts to advance technology innovation in the region,” said Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated.

“This new engineering hub will focus on developing best-in-class AI and industrial IoT solutions while also cultivating local talent and fostering job creation. We look forward to working with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the UAE to expand their technology ecosystem,” he added.

A Strategic Move in a Growing Tech Ecosystem

The Abu Dhabi center will collaborate with both regional and global companies, with a focus on critical sectors including energymanufacturinglogisticsretail, and smart mobility. The goal is to develop intelligent, scalable solutions that meet the demands of rapidly evolving industries.

“Abu Dhabi is laying the groundwork for future-defining industries, grounded in world-class research capabilities, integrated infrastructure, and the ability to attract top-tier talent,” said Badr Al-Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

He noted that the Qualcomm facility is well-positioned to deliver technological breakthroughs that can be deployed on a global scale, tapping into Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a center for innovation and advanced engineering.

The announcement aligns with the UAE’s broader goals under its national innovation strategy, aiming to foster a knowledge-based economy and attract leading technology firms to establish local operations.

Unlocking Global-Scale Solutions

By addressing both local and international demands for power-efficient computing and data-driven infrastructure, the Qualcomm Engineering Center is expected to contribute to solving complex challenges across various industries.

Once operational, the hub is set to bolster AI research, promote IoT deployments, and support emerging data infrastructure development in the Middle East and beyond.
