The much-anticipated clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is set to light up the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 25, Tuesday, marking a crucial face-off in the early stages of the IPL 2025 season.

GT vs PBKS: Leadership in Focus

Shreyas Iyer, who takes charge of PBKS this season, is expected to bring his tactical maturity and experience to a franchise still hunting for its maiden IPL title. After leading Delhi Capitals to the finals in 2020 and guiding Kolkata Knight Riders to championship glory in 2024, Iyer now finds himself at the helm of a side that has failed to make the playoffs since 2018.

Reuniting with coach Ricky Ponting, Iyer brings renewed hope to Punjab’s long-standing trophy drought. Despite a rebranding from Kings XI Punjab to Punjab Kings, consistent performances have eluded the franchise in recent years. However, the arrival of Iyer and Ponting signals a new chapter.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, champions in 2022 and runners-up in 2023, had a disappointing campaign last season, finishing eighth. Now led by Shubman Gill, who succeeded Hardik Pandya as captain, GT is eager to bounce back. Gill, India’s ODI vice-captain, enters the tournament in red-hot form after playing a pivotal role in India’s Champions Trophy triumph earlier this month.
