Cricket fans from India and Pakistan are eagerly awaiting one of the most highly anticipated matches of the Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. As the two rivals prepare to battle it out, excitement is at an all-time high, but there’s one lingering question on everyone’s mind—will rain play spoilsport?

Weather Concerns Ahead of the Blockbuster Clash

The UAE has experienced cloudy conditions and intermittent rain over the past week, with some areas witnessing showers and even hailstorms, particularly in Ras Al Khaimah’s Jebel Jais region. While India’s opening match against Bangladesh on Thursday remained unaffected, fears persist over potential rain disruption for the India-Pakistan showdown.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), Sunday’s forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with a possibility of light rain over northern areas. In Dubai, daytime temperatures are expected to reach 33°C, while the nighttime low will hover around 20°C.

No Reserve Day for Group Stage Matches

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that no reserve days will be allocated for the group stage of the tournament. Clause 13.6.3 of the ICC playing conditions states that only the semifinals and final will have reserve days, allowing an incomplete match to resume the next day.

This means that if rain completely washes out the match, both India and Pakistan will share one point each, potentially affecting their qualification hopes.

India and Pakistan’s Tournament Run So Far

India made a winning start in Group A, successfully chasing down a tricky total against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pakistan had a disappointing start, suffering a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in their opening match.

The Pakistan squad arrived in Dubai from Karachi on Thursday, joining India, which has set up its base in the city as it plays all its group-stage matches at the same venue.

Tickets Sold Out Within Minutes

As expected, tickets for the high-voltage clash sold out within minutes both times they were released online. Fans who managed to secure a seat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium are gearing up for an electrifying match, donning their national jerseys, waving flags, and painting their faces in patriotic colors.

Apart from India’s next Group A match against New Zealand on March 2, Dubai will also host the first semifinal on March 4 and the final on March 9, provided India qualifies for the title decider. However, if India fails to reach the final, it will be played in Lahore instead.

With excitement at a fever pitch, fans are hoping the weather holds up so they can witness one of cricket’s greatest rivalries unfold without interruption.
