For the first time, Global Village will host celebrations for Hag Al Laila, a cherished Emirati social tradition observed on the 15th night of Sha’ban. This year, the event falls on Thursday, February 13, marking the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
A Celebration of Heritage and Community
The Hag Al Laila festival will run from February 13 to February 16, offering a range of cultural and interactive activities designed for families and children. The event will take place between the Main Stage and the Dragon Lake at Global Village, featuring:
- Traditional sweet distribution
- Interactive workshops for children
- Folklore performances
- Meet-and-greet sessions with ‘The Nomads’ characters
The venue will be adorned with heritage-inspired decorations, including palm fronds, lanterns, and traditional seating areas to create an immersive cultural experience.
Preserving Emirati Traditions
Hag Al Laila, also known as Qargian, is a significant pre-Ramadan tradition that promotes generosity and social solidarity. This year’s celebration aligns with President Sheikh Mohamed’s declaration of 2025 as the ‘Year of Community’, emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage and unity.
The event at Global Village aims to educate younger generations about Emirati customs and strengthen their connection to traditional values through a lively and engaging atmosphere.
Visitors can experience the rich heritage of the UAE while enjoying a festive environment, making this first-ever Hag Al Laila celebration at Global Village a memorable occasion for residents and tourists alike.
