Dubai: Flight disruptions continued at Dubai International Airport (DXB) early Friday as unstable weather conditions led to delays and cancellations across multiple airlines, according to Dubai Airports.
Forecasts of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible fog from Thursday evening through midday Friday prompted airlines to issue travel advisories. Passengers were urged to check flight statuses regularly and arrive earlier than usual at the airport.
DXB, one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, saw widespread operational impact, affecting both departing and arriving flights.
Multiple Airlines Affected
Several airlines reported delays and cancellations, including Emirates, flydubai, Turkish Airlines, Saudia, Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, flynas, and IndiGo, according to airport updates and airline notices.
Airport data early Friday showed a number of flights either delayed or cancelled, while some services were reassigned new departure times. A limited number of flights were operating on schedule.
Passengers reported missed connections, congestion at terminals, and extended waiting times at customer service and transfer desks, particularly for connecting flights.
Advisory for Travelers
Emirates and flydubai, the primary operators at DXB, advised passengers to arrive up to four hours before departure to allow additional time for check-in and security procedures. Other carriers operating to and from the UAE also warned of potential disruptions.
Kuwait Airways confirmed the cancellation of two flights to Dubai due to weather-related operational challenges.
Dubai Airports said conditions are expected to improve later in the day, but travelers were advised to monitor official airline communications and the DXB website for real-time updates before heading to the airport.
