Dubai: GCC-based online car platform Cartea has launched a new free car-selling service, removing listing and commission fees for users. The move aims to make car trading easier and more affordable for private owners, first-time sellers, and small dealers across the region.
The launch comes as the GCC’s automotive sector grows rapidly. According to AutoData Middle East, new vehicle registrations rose 15.7% in the UAE in 2024, while Saudi Arabia recorded over one million new cars.
In just one month, Cartea has gained more than 5,000 listings, with 86% being GCC-spec models built for local conditions.
The platform allows users to list cars, connect directly with buyers, and close deals easily through a three-step process. Sellers remain in control of their listings and can negotiate directly without going through middlemen.
Cartea also includes price suggestion tools, inspection referrals, and Arabic-language support, helping improve trust and accessibility. Early users rated the platform 4.9 out of 5 for its simplicity and transparency.
The company’s CEO said the goal is to make car selling “simple, transparent, and open to everyone.”
Cartea plans to add AI-based pricing and smarter buyer matching features soon. The platform’s growth reflects a wider shift in the Gulf’s digital economy, where 83% of car buyers now begin their search online.
