Authorities in Abu Dhabi seized more than Dh1.8 million worth of counterfeit and non-compliant goods in 2025, as part of intensified efforts to strengthen consumer protection and enforce business regulations. The crackdown was led by the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), under the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, through a series of inspection campaigns targeting commercial establishments and retail outlets across the emirate.
ADRA conducted 465 inspection campaigns during the year, marking a 16.2% increase from 2024. The authority also carried out 16,748 inspection visits, a sharp rise compared to 6,665 visits the previous year.
As a result, officials issued 104 violations and 294 warnings to non-compliant businesses.
On the consumer side, a total of 31,759 complaints were recorded in 2025, with 83.5% resolved amicably. Violations related to consumer protection laws resulted in 653 penalties and 459 warnings, while goods linked to resolved complaints were valued at approximately Dh28 million.
Authorities said inspection campaigns and complaint handling remain critical in identifying counterfeit products, protecting trademark rights, and ensuring consumer safety.
Mohamed Munif Al Mansoori, Director General of ADRA, said the authority continues to enhance its regulatory framework to ensure high standards of quality and safety, while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a business-friendly destination.
In parallel, ADRA conducted awareness initiatives, including workshops on trademark protection and consumer rights, as well as meetings with strategic partners to improve compliance across the business sector.
