The United Arab Emirates on Monday inaugurated one of the world’s largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs, marking a major step in the country’s transition toward sustainable and smart mobility.
ADNOC Distribution, the UAE’s leading mobility and convenience retailer, announced the launch of the world’s sixth-largest superfast EV charging hub and unveiled a nationwide plan to electrify the UAE’s highway network by the end of 2027.
The announcement comes ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, where global leaders are gathering in the capital to discuss the future of clean energy, infrastructure, and climate action.
Strategically located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the EV Mega Hub features 60 high-speed charging points capable of charging most electric vehicles from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes. The site is currently the largest superfast EV charging facility in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.
The hub forms the centrepiece of ADNOC Distribution’s broader roadmap to establish a comprehensive highway EV charging network across the UAE. Under the plan, the company aims to develop 20 EV charging hubs by the end of 2027, with 15 expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
Officials said the expanded infrastructure will play a critical role in enabling seamless long-distance EV travel, addressing range anxiety, and supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.
Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the inauguration aligns with national sustainability goals.
“The launch of ADNOC Distribution’s EV Mega Hub is a significant step in implementing the UAE’s National Electric Vehicles Policy and advancing sustainable mobility across the country,” he said, adding that the E11 highway location serves one of the nation’s most vital transport corridors.
Al Olama noted that expanding high-speed charging infrastructure is central to the UAE’s long-term transport strategy, which aims to reduce energy consumption and increase EV adoption. The national target seeks to have electric vehicles account for 50 percent of all cars on UAE roads by 2050.
Eng. Bader Saeed Al Lamki, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Distribution, said the company is redefining roadside mobility to meet evolving consumer needs.
“ADNOC Distribution has powered journeys since 1973, and today we are building the future of mobility with the UAE’s largest superfast EV charging hub,” he said. “As more consumers choose electric vehicles, we are ensuring they can travel confidently across the country through our growing E2GO charging network.”
The new site also marks the opening of the first commuter-focused The Hub by ADNOC location. With a footprint three times larger than traditional service stations, the hub integrates fuel services, EV charging, food outlets, lifestyle retail, and a dedicated coworking space designed for intercity commuters.
The concept aims to transform roadside retail into experience-driven destinations while supporting future-ready mobility.
ADNOC Distribution currently operates more than 560 service stations across the UAE, the largest network in the country. Through its E2GO platform, the company has already installed over 400 EV charging points and is targeting up to 750 charging points by 2028.
