Dubai - Dutch low-cost carrier Transavia has cancelled all flights to and from Dubai until February 13, citing airspace restrictions linked to ongoing regional tensions.
The airline said it is avoiding the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Israel, along with parts of the Gulf region, as a precautionary measure. As a result, all scheduled services to Dubai have been suspended until Friday.
In a statement, the carrier said the decision was taken in line with safety advisories. “Due to the geopolitical situation in Iran, Iraq and Israel, we are not flying over the airspace of these countries and some other Gulf states as a precaution. All flights to and from Dubai are therefore cancelled until Friday, 13 February,” the airline said.
Transavia added that it understands the disruption may cause inconvenience, particularly for passengers who are currently travelling or planning to depart in the coming days.
The airline clarified that the suspension is not related to safety conditions in Dubai itself. Instead, current flight path limitations and restricted access to certain regional airspaces have made operations unfeasible. Aircraft are presently allowed to cross some affected areas only during limited daylight hours, and slot availability at Dubai International Airport has also been constrained.
Transavia said it continues to monitor official safety guidance and will resume operations within 48 hours if conditions improve.
Passengers whose flights have been cancelled will receive notifications via SMS and email. Those who booked through travel agents, Transavia Holidays or KLM have been advised to contact their respective providers.
Affected travellers may request a refund, reschedule their journey to a later date, or opt for an alternative destination. Passengers scheduled to travel up to February 28 who no longer wish to fly can rebook without additional charges by contacting the airline’s service centre. Standard fare rules will apply for bookings beyond that date.
The airline indicated that if regional restrictions persist, additional cancellations could be announced, typically with 48 hours’ notice.
