Early Life, Education & Theatrical Awakening

Tell us about your early life, education, and what led you to start your business.

I was born in eastern Slovakia to my wonderful parents, Anna and Peter, who gave me everything, even much more than I could ever ask for as a child, as a girl, and as a woman. My childhood in Slovakia was beautiful, especially the summers spent in the countryside with my grandparents, surrounded by stunning nature in an authentic, natural setting.

My mother, a teacher, provided me with invaluable life lessons, and with my father was incredibly supportive of my educational pursuits, both in Slovakia and in the United States. My parents instilled in me the core values, morals, principles, and the highest virtues that I care about and live by every single day, and will continue to until my last breath.

My beloved father passed away almost five years ago, and there is not a moment that goes by when I don't think of him. I feel his presence and I know he is watching over me every step I take.

For most of my life, I have spent time in Far East Asia, Japan, China, and in the Middle East. From a young age, around 13 or 14, I had a strong desire to see the world and learn English. With my parents' support, I pursued the opportunity to be an exchange student in the United States, even though I was quite young. They trusted me and provided the necessary support, knowing it was something I was determined to do. This experience in Washington State as a teenager marked the beginning of my journey, and that's where it all started. I was approached in high school to act in a theater production. The show was a huge success. The next day, there was an article in the newspaper that an exchange student from Slovakia stole the show and a new star was born.

When I was on that stage, I knew immediately that the stage was my other self, my DNA, and that's what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, to have a connection with the audience, to make people happy, to give them good feelings, emotions, to see a smile on their faces. That was a moment when something incredible woke up in me because in Slovakia these opportunities never existed. I knew that theater, film, and having a connection with people, with the audience, is something incredible, and it fulfills me. Especially the smile on their faces is priceless, and that's when my journey of theater and acting began. I knew this was the only thing I could do. It was the meaning of my life, and now here we are a few years later.

I pursued higher education in Slovakia, earning a master’s degree in Philosophy at The Presov University. I further honed my craft at the New York Film Academy in New York, specializing in acting for film. My commitment to continuing learning led me to study at esteemed acting institutions in Los Angeles, including the Kimberly Jentzen Acting Studio, Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio, The Acting Corps, and Carolyne Barry Creative Enterprises.

Although I pursued formal acting studies, I discovered a deeper love for working behind the camera, because in front of the camera I had to speak the scripts I was given. I was satisfied, but I felt empty. I yearned for a more authentic form of expression. And then came the moment, the global lockdown provided a turning point, inspired by the stories of women around me. I knew I had to help my friends from all over the world and listen to their stories of how they were coping. That's when I said to myself: there is a crisis, and what's worse than this crisis is not using it. I felt compelled to create my first film. This directorial debut, which garnered numerous awards, solidified my belief that I had found my true calling. I knew I had done something beautiful, meaningful, and that I was on the right path.

The challenges women face in breaking into the film industry may have significantly shaped my determination. This traditionally male-dominated field likely fueled my desire to prove myself and bring a unique perspective to the screen.

Female directors have a powerful impact. We push boundaries, both creatively and in the fight for more opportunities for women in leadership roles within the industry. The exact number of female movie directors globally is not explicitly provided; however, the data indicates between 11%–14%. Well, female directors remain significantly underrepresented, and that’s sad.

Vision Behind The Palace Entertainment Group FZE

Vision Behind The Palace Entertainment Group FZE

What is your business and what makes it unique in the market?

The Palace Entertainment Group FZE is an international production house based in the UAE. At The Palace Entertainment Group FZE, we do not chase illusions. We stand firmly, unwaveringly, in truth, pure, unfiltered, and grounded in human experience. We do not bend to trends, agendas, or the fleeting approval of the media.

This is not a slogan, it is a promise.

As the founder, I carry this promise with every project we create. Our stories are not manufactured for applause, they are born from the ground, from real people, real struggles, real triumphs. No artificial gloss, no distortion, just the essence of life, unmasked. In a world that often celebrates spectacle over substance, we choose integrity. Where others may soften the truth for comfort, we believe in its power to heal, awaken, and liberate. We understand that truth can be raw, but it is also beautiful, sacred, and necessary. Even the most difficult and painful stories, we present with grace and elegance. Because cinema is not just light and sound, it is a memory. It is true. It is a bridge between the silent and the seen.

Our guiding principles are honesty, courage, humility, and reverence for the human spirit. We create with morals, not manipulation. We listen to the unheard, and we speak for the unseen. We honor culture, history, and authenticity, never using them for decoration, but for depth. We uplift truth as an act of service, not self-promotion. We do not represent an agency or any media. We do not speak from a tower, we are on the ground with the people, for the people. Every frame we craft, every word we write, is shaped by the pulse of humanity, not the noise of approval.

Filmmaking for us is about creating a space to share stories that reflect a range of voices and experiences, particularly those that are often overlooked. Being able to express ourselves through the lens of a camera, to turn thoughts and ideas into something tangible that can touch people’s hearts, improve their lives, is a powerful driving force. A mix of creative passion and a desire for social impact. The chance to influence culture, explore misunderstood regions, and give people a sense of belonging or understanding through stories is what keeps us motivated, even through the tough times.

This is our art, and this is our vow, to stand for what is real, to create with heart. To remain unshaken in the face of compromise. We are The Palace Entertainment Group FZE, not a production house chasing headlines, but a home for truth. And truth, as we know, is the most powerful story of all. The Truth is Everything.

In summary, our heart is our guide. Our career journey has been shaped by love for storytelling, being a voice for people with no voice, and a desire to break barriers. Lastly, and most important to us, is the force of presenting the truth. Even though the truth is vital, without love it is unbearable, but it must be done. And a commitment to helping shape the future of cinema to be more inclusive and representative of all people.

Milestones That Define the Journey

What is one key success or milestone your company has achieved?

I would say the most rewarding part of filmmaking is seeing how my work resonates with people, the ability to impact audiences positively and spark conversations. When someone tells me that a film I made changed their perspective or opened their eyes to an issue, that’s the biggest reward.

When people are leaving the cinema after seeing my film, they are crying, crying from happiness or crying because they were so deeply touched by the movie. The power of film to evoke such strong emotions, from tears of joy to those of profound connection, is truly remarkable. If my work can inspire, leave a lasting impact, educate, or even change lives for the better, if it can bring a smile to someone's face, then every effort is worthwhile. In a world where smiles seem increasingly rare, that is a goal worth striving for.

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that patience and perseverance are everything. Filmmaking is a long, challenging process, but the impact is worth it. I've learned that staying true to one’s vision, staying true to myself, even in the face of challenges is essential.

Regarding our success, Corona & The Jewels, my directorial debut in 2020, garnered over 18 international film festival awards. My subsequent film, Destruction of the Crown, also received numerous accolades. Our latest movie, Calling Hearts, has already won awards and continues to participate in international film festivals, indicating ongoing success.

To date, I have received more than 37 global awards, and the rest, as they say, is history. I am very proud of myself and my team crew because filmmaking is with the people and for the people.

Purpose-Driven Goals in Filmmaking

Purpose-Driven Goals in Filmmaking

What are your future goals in filmmaking?

My heartfelt and sincere reflection on future goals in filmmaking, written with truth, intention, and a moral compass: a statement from my heart.

My greatest aspiration in filmmaking is not just to entertain, but to illuminate, to reveal truth, stir empathy, and reflect the depth of what it means to be human. I want to create stories that honor dignity, explore the unseen, and remind us of our shared soul across borders, beliefs, and brokenness.

I believe in the sacred responsibility of storytelling. Films can manipulate, oh, they can manipulate, but they can also heal, awaken, and inspire. I want my work to be grounded in integrity, not spectacle for its own sake. Beauty matters. Truth matters more!

My goals are simple, but they carry weight. To tell stories that speak to the forgotten, not just the famous. Stories of resilience, quiet strength, and ordinary people who move mountains with unseen hands. To elevate voices from underrepresented cultures and communities, especially those whose wisdom has been buried by noise. To lead with compassion, on set, in story, in business.

No film is worth making if it costs someone their peace or dignity. I want to build creative environments where kindness is currency and collaboration is a joy. To never lose sight of why I started, not for applause, but to understand life better, to ask the hard questions, to offer even a flicker of hope. To always use my films as a bridge, never a weapon, between generations, faiths, nations, and hearts. I want to remind people that though we’re different, we’re not alone. At the end of the day, we are the same, we breathe the same air, see the happy sun, shiny moon, and we have cloudy days with tears, that’s us. To grow slowly, but meaningfully. I would rather make one honest film that changes a few lives than chase a hundred shallow successes.

To leave something behind, not just films, but the feeling they give. The courage to speak, the space to cry, the permission to dream.

Above all, I hope my journey in filmmaking helps others feel seen, valued, and less afraid of the darkness, because yes, stories can do that, they can carry light! And I want to carry that light, with a steady hand and a pure heart.

Staying Relevant Without Losing Integrity

How to stay competitive in your industry?

I want to share my thoughts on the concept of "competition" in filmmaking. While film festivals certainly involve awards, thinking of the creative process itself as a competition feels akin to mass production. For me, making movies is a deeply personal endeavor, filled with truth, authenticity, and heart. It's not a factory output that can be easily measured or compared.

However, to phrase it more elegantly, perhaps we can consider it in a different light. Staying competitive in the filmmaking industry, whether as an individual filmmaker or a production company like The Palace Entertainment Group FZE, requires a strategic blend of creativity, adaptability, and business acumen.

Tell authentic, truthful, unique, and compelling stories. Originality is your strongest currency. Audiences crave fresh narratives, diverse perspectives, and culturally rich stories. Tap into underrepresented voices or topics with global relevance or emotional resonance. Think globally, act locally. Partner with international collaborators for co-productions, funding, and distribution. Reflect local cultures and issues authentically while ensuring universal appeal.

Embrace innovations such as virtual production, VFX, I love to use drones. Use platforms for teasers, trailers, and behind-the-scenes content. Engage with fans early in the production process to build a community and test ideas.

To me, it is very important to build genuine industry relationships. Attend film festivals and film markets for networking and deal-making. Foster strong ties with distributors, streamers, and broadcasters. Try to secure diverse funding. Explore international grants, film commissions, co-production treaties, and tax incentives.

Never stop learning and maintain a solid, truthful brand identity! Ensure every project aligns with your company’s vision, values, virtues, morals, and creative signature. Build a brand that audiences and collaborators trust and admire!

Advice for Emerging Filmmakers

Advice for Emerging Filmmakers

What advice would you give to aspiring filmmakers?

Aspiring filmmakers face a thrilling yet competitive path, but I would say it’s the same for most of us who have been working in the film industry for some time, whether you’re dreaming of directing your first feature, writing for the screen, or producing award-winning films.

I would just say: simply start. Make something. Don’t wait for the “perfect” camera, crew, or budget. Use your phone. Write, shoot, edit. Tell stories only you can tell. Your perspective is your power. Lean into your culture, experiences, language, and worldview. Authenticity stands out way more than imitation, so stay authentic to your stories. Be unique. Be only yourself.

Learn every role. Try to understand the basics of writing, directing, cinematography, editing, and sound. This builds respect for your team and makes you a more versatile, empathetic filmmaker. Read scripts, break down scenes, understand what audiences want, and what sells. Passion and practicality go hand-in-hand. Never stop learning! Read screenwriting books, take online courses, and analyze great films.

Learn not just the “how” but the “why” behind storytelling choices. I say do networking, but do it genuinely! Relationships open doors. Collaborate, volunteer on sets, attend film festivals and workshops. Help others without expecting a return, it builds goodwill and credibility. Be resourceful. You can’t afford a studio? Shoot in your friend’s apartment. You have no crew? Use natural light and minimal gear. Limitations spark creativity.

You must be patient and persistent! Filmmaking is not a walk or a sprint, it’s a marathon. Rejection is part of the process and yes, you’ll be sad, but you must not give up. Stay humble, but never wait for permission to create.

Remember why you started! The process will be tough. Rejections, reshoots, budget cuts, we all face them. Your love and passion for storytelling is your most important asset. Protect it!

Conclusion

Annina’s story is not just one of cinematic success, it is a deeper journey rooted in empathy, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to truth. Her films speak softly yet profoundly, cutting through surface narratives to reach the heart of what it means to be human. Whether through the lens of a camera or the depth of a script, Annina has made it her life’s purpose to tell stories that are real, unfiltered, and necessary.

In an industry often driven by glamour and trends, she stands firmly for integrity, moral clarity, and the belief that storytelling can be a force for healing and connection. With every film she creates, she gives voice to the unheard and presence to the unseen.

As she continues to build a legacy of meaningful cinema, Annina Alexis Fedorkova reminds us all that art is not about applause, it is about impact. And when truth is paired with love, the result is not just a film, but a movement. Her work is a call to see, to feel, and to remember that in the end, the most powerful story of all, is the truth.
